Johnson's avant garde novel (wikipedia), it follows not too bright Christy, who receives, accidentally, a copy of Luca Pacioli's De Summa Arithmetica and uses it as a life code. (and as Bunk Moreland put it, A man's got to have a code). Things spiral as Christy debits those who do wrong unto him and credits himself as he takes revenge, eventually waging a war of terror, all inspired by Monsignor Pacioli, who appears in scenes describing his accounting process....
